FAW, a prominent player in the automotive industry, is venturing into the micro-EV segment with the launch of the Bestune Xiaoma.

This move highlights the growing demand for compact and eco-friendly vehicles. Pre-sales for this electric car are set to begin this month, creating a buzz among car enthusiasts.

A Challenger for the Microcar Throne

The Bestune Xiaoma is gearing up for a face-off with the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, which currently reigns as China’s best-selling microcar.

The Bestune Xiaoma rides on the Xiaoma FME platform, featuring a dedicated chassis for EV and range extender models.

The FME platform comprises two sub-platforms, A1 and A2, designed to accommodate vehicles with varying wheelbases. Impressively, the EV variant offers a range exceeding 800 kilometers, while the extender model boasts an astonishing 1200 kilometers.

Both platforms support an 800 V architecture, ensuring efficient power delivery.

Bestune Xiaoma mini EV – Under the Hood

Powering this micro-EV is a single 20 kW electric motor situated on the rear axle.

The vehicle relies on a lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery sourced from Goshan and REPT, though specific powertrain details are yet to be disclosed.

Safety is a priority, with the Bestune Xiaoma mini EV featuring a driver-side airbag and adopting a 3-door configuration.

The car’s dimensions measure 3000mm in length, 1510mm in width, 1630mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1,953mm.
