Lohum – Leading the Charge in Battery Circularity and Clean Energy

Founded in 2018 by entrepreneur Rajat Verma, Lohum has emerged as India’s foremost clean-tech company dedicated to sustainable battery lifecycle management. Headquartered in Greater Noida, the company is revolutionizing the circular economy by offering end-to-end solutions—from recycling and repurposing end-of-life lithium-ion batteries to refining critical materials and manufacturing cathode active materials (CAM).

At the core of Lohum’s innovation is its proprietary NEETM™ recycling technology, which achieves over 95% recovery of essential materials like lithium, cobalt, nickel, aluminium, and copper with purity levels nearing 99.5%. Their integrated ecosystem—the Reclaim facility—can process approximately 10,000 tonnes of battery waste annually, enough to power around 50,000 electric sedans. This infrastructure is supported by a dynamic R&D team, which comprises about 10% of the workforce.

Lohum’s rapid scaling strategy includes expanding its recycling capacity from 5 GWh currently to a staggering 25–30 GWh by 2027, anchored by facilities in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and new sites across India. The company is also globally expanding—with a new 15.5 GWh recycling plant in the USA slated by 2026, and strategic joint ventures in the UAE and Europe underway. A major ₹2,000 crore investment in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, is already in motion to develop a CAM production plant, furthering its vertical integration.

To date, Lohum has raised over $54 million in Series B funding from notable investors, enabling extensive R&D and global market entry. The company is already profitable, with a revenue run rate exceeding ₹1,000 crore and projections pointing to revenues near ₹5,000 crore by 2028.
