The Concept of the EV9
The EV9 made its debut as a concept at the Auto Expo in January before being subsequently released in multiple international markets. Kia had earlier outlined its intention to bring the EV9 to the Electric vehicle industry of Indian market by 2025 and unveil three new models over the next three years, including two electric vehicles (EVs). Tae-Jin Park, Managing Director and CEO of Kia India stated, “By 2025, we plan to commence local production of a mass-market EV, with subsequent annual introductions of new electric models.”
The Design of the EV9
Constructed on the Electric Global Modular Platform, the EV9 boasts a length exceeding 5,000mm, placing it in a size category comparable to the Telluride. Offering versatility, the vehicle comes in both six and seven-seat configurations, and buyers can choose between two variants: HT Line and GT Line. Kia asserts that the EV9’s impressive range extends up to 541km on a single charge, accompanied by a brisk acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in just 9.4 seconds, courtesy of its 150kW electric motor. For those seeking enhanced power, a more robust 160kW motor will be an option in the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) trim.
