First Look at the Electric Range Rover SUV

In April, the first images of the all-electric Range Rover were released, showcasing an all-black prototype that unmistakably carries the classic Range Rover design into the modern EV era. The new in-house EV propulsion system is set to exceed the brand’s renowned performance, particularly on low-grip surfaces, ensuring the vehicle remains capable across all terrains and weather conditions.

The electric P400e PHEV powering the Range Rover offers a sustainable performance by merging a 300hp (221kW) 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine with an 85kW electric motor. This combination produces a total power output of 404hp (297kW), available through the permanent four-wheel-drive system.

The P400e accelerates from zero to 60mph in 6.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 137mph, delivering an impressive 640Nm of torque. It emits only 64g/km on the NEDC combined cycle and provides an all-electric range of up to 31 miles without using the engine.

Unmatched Off-Road Capabilities

The Range Rover Electric is designed to tackle challenging conditions, including the ability to wade through 33.5 inches (850 mm) of water, outperforming the GMC Hummer EV’s 32 inches and the Toyota Land Cruiser’s 27.5 inches. This superior capability underscores Range Rover’s commitment to maintaining its legacy of exceptional off-road performance, even as it transitions to electric powertrains.
