In a groundbreaking move set to transform the electric vehicle (EV) landscape in India, Hubject, the global leader in EV interoperability, has partnered with Exicom, India’s largest EV charger manufacturer.

This strategic alliance aims to leverage Hubject’s cutting-edge interoperability technology to enhance the EV charging experience across the country. Central to this collaboration is Hubject’s intercharge platform, designed to simplify the process of locating and using EV charge points for drivers.

Enhancing EV Charging with Hubject’s Plug & Charge Platform

Hubject and Exicom will focus on implementing Hubject’s Plug & Charge platform, creating a dedicated Indian hub that will:

  • Introduce industry-leading global technology,
  • Support local charge point operators (CPOs) in line with ISO15118 standards,
  • Enable fully automated charging capabilities,
  • Establish India’s first Plug & Charge standard, positioning the country as a regional leader in this technology.

This initiative means that EV drivers in India will soon enjoy the convenience of plugging into compatible charge points and charging instantly, thanks to automatic EV-to-charging station authentication technology. This innovation eliminates the need for apps or RFID cards, streamlining the entire charging process.

Driving Growth in India’s EV Market

Christian Hahn, CEO of Hubject, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “The EV market in India is experiencing explosive growth. Last year, sales nearly doubled, and this year, they are expected to rise by 66%.

Our strategic partnership with Exicom and the introduction of Hubject’s intercharge platform aim to support this massive growth by making the charging experience easier and more reliable for EV drivers. This is a crucial step in encouraging more drivers in India to transition from fossil fuel vehicles to EVs.” Hahn added, “

This partnership is beneficial for Hubject, Exicom, and EV drivers in India, and it’s also a major step forward in our strategic goal of implementing Plug&Charge technology globally.”

Streamlining the EV Charging Experience

Anant Nahata, CEO of Exicom, highlighted the collaboration’s potential to address critical challenges in the Indian market. “Ensuring reliability and a seamless EV charging experience in India is vital. Our partnership with Hubject aims to deliver a frictionless charging experience for EV users.

The creation of a central interoperability hub will streamline payment settlements and reduce the reliance on multiple wallets, guaranteeing a smoother experience for EV users nationwide.”

Hubject’s interoperability technology revolutionizes the charging process by allowing EV drivers to locate, access, and pay for charging services using their preferred interface, regardless of the operator.

This eliminates the need for multiple memberships and payments, enabling a smoother and more user-friendly experience. Drivers can effortlessly switch between different CPOs, akin to how mobile phone users roam between networks, ensuring that EV charging is as simple as refueling a traditional car.
