Hey folks! Have you heard about sand batteries? I stumbled upon an article mentioning them as a potential game-changer for energy storage. Any thoughts on this? What I didn’t understand is, can sand battery can be used as a normal battery

Finland’s sand battery? It can store heat from renewable sources like solar for months! This seems like a huge step forward in energy storage. But it can’t be used as a replacement for lithium or general battery which we are using in different industries.

Yes we actually created a small scale prototype for a sand battery with my colleague and we succeeded but we had a problem with the low efficiency and we are still working on it, that’s why we need to invent another technology to convert heat to electricity to make it more efficient.
