GPS Renewables offers end-to-end biofuel solutions including biogas, Compressed Biogas (CBG/RNG), second-generation ethanol, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and green hydrogen. They provide technology development, engineering, project execution, and asset management services. Their proprietary platform, GPSR Arya, supports plant operations.
GPS Renewables was established in 2012 by IIM Bangalore alumni Mainak Chakraborty and Sreekrishna Sankar, originally as a biogas startup. Over time, it has evolved into India’s premier full-stack clean-fuels company, delivering end-to-end solutions in biofuel development, production, and distribution. Today, GPS Renewables operates across technologies like biogas, compressed biogas (CBG), ethanol, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and green hydrogen.
The company has deployed over 100 BioUrja biogas plants in sectors including hotels, corporate offices, tech parks, and healthcare facilities. Its flagship milestone includes setting up Asia’s largest BioCNG facility in Indore, which processes hundreds of tonnes of organic waste into clean energy daily.
With an order backlog exceeding ₹2,000 crore, GPS Renewables is on the fast track to surpass ₹500 crore in turnover in FY24—boosted by its profitability and rapid workforce scaling. Its financial strength is further underscored by securing $50 million in debt funding to drive nationwide CBG plant construction.
GPS Renewables also leads in strategic expansion, having acquired Germany-based Proweps Envirotech to broaden its technological and engineering capabilities. Through its climate infrastructure vertical, GPSR Arya, the firm has launched joint ventures with industry giants like Indian Oil Corporation and Oil India Limited to set up multiple CBG plants and accelerate commercial execution.
The company’s innovation extends to sustainable aviation fuel: in partnership with SAF One, GPS Renewables is developing a facility capable of producing up to 30 million liters of SAF annually using lignocellulosic waste feedstock—aligning with India’s roadmap for aviation decarbonization.
Additionally, GPS Renewables enriches its offering with proprietary technologies—spanning microbial processing, biogas purification, and digitized monitoring systems—ensuring efficient, scalable, and sustainable bioenergy solutions.
In sum, GPS Renewables is transforming India’s waste-to-energy landscape, driving clean fuel adoption across industries, and building resilient infrastructure to support the nation’s transition to a greener energy future.
