The iVoomi Jeet X first hit the market in 2022, and the manufacturer has now given it a comprehensive update while retaining its standout feature: a removable battery.
About iVoomi Energy
iVoomi Energy is a burgeoning start-up in the indigenous electric scooter market, having quickly established its presence since launching its first product in 2022. This homegrown company focuses on providing sustainable and value-for-money electric mobility solutions.
Popular Models
- iVoomi S1: Known for its sporty design, decent range, and competitive pricing.
- iVoomi Jeet X ZE: Noted for its comfortable seating and feature-rich package.
Despite being a small company, it has been agile, frequently updating its scooters. Recently, we tested the latest version of the iVoomi Jeet X electric scooter, the ZE, which introduces new changes while preserving its core identity—a removable battery that can be charged externally.
Design and Features
The styling of the iVoomi Jeet X ZE is conventional, with a square-ish headlight reminiscent of the Vespa SXL. Unlike the previous versions that had bright stickers, the clean look of the ZE with its matte green paint is more understated and elegant. It strikes a balance between stylish appeal for young buyers and simplicity for mature customers.
The display is straightforward, featuring a negative LCD that shows basic information such as speed, range, battery percentage, and the selected riding mode. There’s Bluetooth connectivity for call and SMS alerts, as well as turn-by-turn navigation via the companion app.
Practicality and Functionality
The iVoomi Jeet X ZE offers ample under-seat storage, accessible through the removable battery, and an additional storage compartment in the front apron, although the hinge on the latter felt somewhat flimsy. iVoomi has indicated plans to address this issue before production.
The riding position is similar to classic scooters, with a low handlebar optimized for short trips around town. A notable feature is the spring-loaded pillion foot-pegs, which can be easily opened and closed, a feature that all manufacturers should consider adopting.
Battery and Performance
The Jeet X ZE features a 2.4-kWh battery, an upgrade from the Jeet X’s 2-kWh battery. This change, along with a switch from 18650 to 21700 cell types, extends the range from 100 kilometers to 140 kilometers in Eco mode.
The motor output has been reduced to 2.1 kW (2.8 hp) from 2.5 kW (3.4 hp), contributing to the extended range. Charging takes about five-and-a-half hours from a regular wall outlet. However, the removable battery allows for immediate battery swaps, essentially eliminating downtime.
Performance and Handling
With 12-inch wheels front and rear, the Jeet X ZE maintains excellent stability and handles turns well, aided by its light 94-kilogram kerb weight. The three riding modes—Eco, City, and Sport—cater to different riding conditions.
Acceleration is quick due to the scooter’s low weight, and braking is stable and predictable. The ride quality is enhanced by adjustable rear shock absorbers, a rare feature in this segment.
Pricing and Value
The iVoomi Jeet X ZE with the 2.5-kWh battery is priced at Rs 94,999. The base model with a 2.1-kWh battery costs Rs 89,000, while the top-end model with a 3-kWh battery is Rs 99,999 (all prices ex-showroom).
Despite higher taxes on vehicles with removable batteries, iVoomi has managed to keep prices competitive, making the scooter a potential solution to range anxiety.
Conclusion
Overall, the iVoomi Jeet X ZE is a solid, no-nonsense electric scooter that delivers on its promises, a commendable achievement in the competitive Indian electric scooter market. iVoomi Energy’s rapid growth, with new models and features being introduced regularly, indicates its commitment to becoming a significant player in the nation’s electric vehicle ecosystem.
